More on Driscoll

Scott Aniol

Chris Anderson weighs in on what is a very well-crafted critique of Mark Driscoll, and Dave Doran adds a few more observations.

His observation about Driscoll being a Calvinistic Finney is spot on. I had the same thought as I posted this a month ago.

Some may wonder why we are attacking Driscoll. They may think it unnecessary or unkind.

On the contrary, like Chris, I often find what Mark says as very helpful and insightful, and I tell people that as I discuss him.

However, I also find that what good Mark has to say is often discredited by the crass, silly, or vulgar medium.

It appears that Mark’s “open hand” is harmfully distracting from what is in his “closed hand.”

Update: Bob Bixby joins the party. He makes some very interesting points about how Driscoll’s sermon at the Gospel Coalition (to be fair, not typical for Driscoll) sounds a whole lot like some fundamentalist preaching.
